Men's Laser IPL Permanent Hair Removal
Enjoy hair reduction permanently anywhere on the body, with a professional laser treatment that uses a hand held device emitting intense pulsed light (IPL) to target melanin in the hair, damaging the hair follicles, and preventing regrowth to give permanent hair removal. It is a non-invasive treatment as the laser is directly moved around whilst lightly laid on the skin - which means it involves no piercing, needles or risk of infection. Laser actually improves the skin (see below) when using the broad spectrum of light energy such as near infra red (NIR).
Laser treatments give the most effective, longest lasting hair removal results available and can lead to permanently hair free skin after 12 treatments. Most clients will achieve a substantial visible reduction in hair regrowth, and additional treatments may result in additional reductions. Treatments are recommended every one to two weeks which creates a minimum 3-6 months for your complete treatment package. Purchase of an 8 or 12 treatment package gives you one or two extra free treatments. Prices on the right of this page are for one treatment, not for a course of 12. Prices are estimates based on an average size and hirsuteness of the specific body area - if your legs have little hair and are short and thin, for example, the treatment length and its cost will be less per treatment.
A consultation with Steve discusses 4 factors for success - your skin tone, hair colour, body area and laser light intensity. Intended skin tones include white, ivory, beige and light brown; it is not effective for medium brown, dark brown or black skin tones. Laser removal is also not suitable for white, grey, red or blonde hair - brown and black hair are most effective at being permanently reduced. Laser procedures are safe for use on any body part, including the face and genitals, and as body areas vary in size and successful positioning of the laser, the number and length of treatments will vary. Five different intensity levels allow Steve to customise your comfort and increase or reduce the rate of hair reduction, depending on your preference and response. These factors will be managed and applied by Steve, your professional practitioner, in consultation with you. We can adapt these factors as results become evident through the couse of treatments.
Following a successful consultation, we can agree the schedule of appointments, lengths of treatment time, intensity of laser, the likely success rate, body areas, and payment choices. A patch test on a less visible area (e.g. the inner arm), is carried out before your first treatment on your chosen areas, to check for any adverse reactions prior to proceeding. Then you can start the real treatment in the safe knowledge and hands of Steve!
It is highly recommended to cleanse and shave your chosen skin area 24 hours before using the laser. Shaving can be done in the suite by Steve during your treatment time, or you can do this yourself. The feeling of pulsed laser light is described as the flick of an elastic band, similar to waxing and electronic epilation. The more sessions you have, the less pain you feel as there are fewer hair follicles to be targeted. The laser targets only the hair follicle, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed (see below). You may experience some redness, but this should subside within 24 hours. Aftercare advice and products are provided by Steve as required. Aloe vera gel or wash is usually the best option to cool and soothe irritated skin, and keep the area clean with antibacterial wipes, gel or wash. Avoid sunburn with sun protection, avoid sweating too much, and also avoid tight, dirty clothes and unwashed hands on the treated area.
Laser hair removal gives the most effective and quickest form of permanent hair removal. Any remaining hair will be finer, lighter and much slower growing with the additional benefit of smoother skin. Hair shadow and prickly growth will be much reduced, meaning you will have much less need to wax, shave, pluck or apply cosmetic makeup, if you need to at all. Longer term, it is cheaper than temporary hair removal such as waxing, and maintains the skin's health much better. Ingrown hair, a common bane of waxing, can completely go, after having a course of laser hair removal.
